Amy Thompson, the speech pathologist at Cedar Shoals High School, was recipient of the Carol Ann Colquitt Special Education Grant. With this Grant, Ms. Thompson helped her students create Emergency Communication Cards.

Ms. Thompson wrote to her students' parents and guardians about this project, "The idea is simple but powerful: your child can carry or wear their wallet with their Emergency Communication Card inside. If your child is ever separated from you or finds themselves in an emergency situation, this card helps police officers and emergency responders quickly understand who your child is, how they communicate best, and what kind of support they may need. It is a small card that can make a big difference.
Today, your child had the chance to practice using their card in real life.

They introduced themselves, shared their address, and provided their emergency contact information, while working with one of our CCSD police officers and School Resource Officers. They did a fantastic job and should be very proud!"
